A sun-loving desert dragon with mottled bronze-brown scales that warm to a burnished metallic sheen as it ages. Famously garrulous and self-important, it would far rather trap a traveler in endless conversation than fight, and may pin a rude guest with a gust of sleep gas or bury them to the neck in sand until its thirst for talk is slaked. When genuinely pressed it breathes either a billowing cone of drowsing vapor or a wall of blistering desert heat, then takes wing and hides. Sociable and oddly companionable, it can be bargained with, a rare dragon that rewards words over steel and may trade hard-won lore to a patient, flattering visitor.
Behavior
- Accosts passersby and forces long, one-sided conversation
- Subdues rather than slays, using sleep gas or burying foes in sand
- Breathes scorching heat only when truly threatened, then flees and burrows
- Basks for hours in open sun atop dry crags and dunes
- Keeps on good terms with neighboring brass dragons and desert sphinxes
Abilities
- Sleep Gas Breath. A long cone of vapor that drops the unwary into deep slumber unless they resist.
- Heat Breath. A broad blast of blistering desert heat that sears all caught within it.
- Heat Immunity. Unharmed by fire and extreme heat.
- Speak with Beasts. Converses freely with animals and most intelligent creatures.
- Innate Magic. Older dragons sway minds with suggestion, control temperature, and command the winds.
