The carnivorous ape is a great gorilla-like beast, broad across the shoulders and armed with hooked claws and a punishing grip. Unlike its peaceable plant-eating cousins, this brute actively hunts, dropping from the canopy or charging from cover to seize prey in both fists. It pounds, rends, and hurls foes, and defends its troop's range with bellowing fury. Strong enough to snap a spear shaft, it is a serious threat to lone travelers in the deep wood.
