Fish-tailed Lion

A heraldic sea-beast with the maned head and powerful forepaws of a lion joined to the scaled, finned body and tail of a great fish. Fifteen feet from nose to tail-fin, it prowls the shallows in prides, savagely defending its waters against any trespasser regardless of size. It loathes sharks above all and hunts them relentlessly, leaving their carcasses untouched. Its bellowing roar carries for miles underwater, alerting the pride and chilling the hearts of prey. Its scales shed water so well that it can haul itself ashore and survive out of the sea for the better part of a day. Raised from a cub, it makes one of the most loyal and fearsome mounts beneath the waves.
