The largest and wisest of the noble dragons: a serpentine giant clad in golden scales, fringed with a flowing mane and trailing whiskers. Hatchlings are dark yellow flecked with metal, turning wholly golden by adulthood. Benevolent and just, gold dragons loathe cruelty and deceit and often roam disguised as humans or beasts to test and aid travellers. They are formidable spell-weavers who can bless allies, detect lies, and lend uncanny luck. Twin breath weapons, a roaring cone of fire or a billowing cloud of choking gas, make them devastating in the open. Immune to fire and gas. In play they are a legendary arbiter: rarely an enemy unless wronged, but an overwhelming foe and a powerful potential patron.
