Gorgon (Iron Bull)

A monstrous black bull the size of a draft ox, its hide sheathed in overlapping plates of dull iron-grey scale that turn most blades. Broad sweeping horns crown a heavy, flat-toothed head, and from its wide nostrils drifts a sickly green vapour. Solitary or moving in small family herds, the iron bull is foul-tempered and intensely territorial, charging anything that crosses its range and pursuing fleeing prey for days on end. Its dreaded weapon is a cone of petrifying breath that seizes living flesh rigid for a few seconds, long enough for its horns to finish the work; legends claim it turns folk to stone outright, and the trampled clearings around its lair are indeed littered with old statues, but the vapour's true grip lasts only moments before a victim can move again. Hunters covet its armour-grade scales, but few survive the taking.
