Pegasus

The pegasus is a graceful winged steed resembling a lean, long-legged horse with two broad feathered wings. Most are pure white, though brown strains exist and black ones are rumoured. Shy, proud, and fiercely independent, pegasi roam forest clearings and glades in small herds, taking wing at the first sign of danger. They are clever and wary, though they keep no language of their own. A pegasus will bond only with the kind-hearted, and once given, that loyalty lasts a lifetime; it suffers no saddle and must be ridden bareback. In a fight it lashes with fore-hooves and a punishing rear kick, and dives from height to double its force, preferring to outfly and exhaust larger foes rather than trade blows.
