Skunks are small, low-slung omnivores of temperate and subtropical woodland, instantly known by the bold white stripe running from snout to bushy tail across glossy black fur. They wander alone or in family groups, scavenging carrion and the leftovers of larger hunters, and rarely pick a fight. Their true defence is a gland-borne spray of reeking musk that fouls anything it touches. Giant skunks, rare but real, stand many times larger; their musk cloud is correspondingly vast and far harder to endure. For survivalists a skunk is less a threat than a hazard: corner one carelessly and your clothing and gear may be ruined for weeks.
Behavior
- Forages alone or in small family bands, eating almost anything edible
- Backs toward a threat with tail raised before spraying
- Releases a lingering musk cloud rather than closing to fight
- Bites only if cornered and unable to spray
- Dens deep in forest near reliable scraps and water
- Giant variants loose a far larger, more potent cloud
Abilities
- Musk Spray. Ejects a heavy, clinging mist that nauseates and can blind those caught in it; giant skunks blanket a wide area with a far stronger dose.
- Foul Taint. The reek soaks into cloth and gear, rotting fabric and forcing days of airing or vinegar-washing to remove.
Drops & Crafting
